The majority of people can be found flying too close to the ground. Too often they don’t give themselves permission to soar.
Get uncomfortable. Prepare yourself for “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.” You’re going to cover some unfamiliar territory and encounter obstacles you’ve never faced before. It can feel like a roller coaster out of control when the safety of your behavior patterns is being stretched to the limit. The normal reaction is to want to hold on tight. But you’re going to have to learn to let go if you truly want to soar.
If you feel uncomfortable, that’s a good sign. If you are experiencing no anxiety or discomfort, the risk you’re taking probably isn’t worth it for you. The only risks that aren’t a little scary are the ones you’ve outgrown. A high comfort level provides solid evidence that you’re “playing it safe,” not growing, not really testing your limits at all, and not in the process of a major shift. You might be making gradual progress, but you’re clearly not going for a breakthrough.
If you focus on the possibilities, rather than obstacles, quantum shifts become possible. This requires moving outside of your mental boundaries. If you learn how to rethink how you are currently thinking, you will expand and multiply your potential. Allow yourself to be guided instead of staying stuck.
You don’t have to know how you’re going to get there, but you need to know where you want to go. It is critical to have a crystal clear picture of what you want to accomplish. A sharply defined mental vision of your outcome will clear the path for you to get there faster. Commitment and determinate will allow you to “keep away the squirrels” and remain focused on your goal.
Where do you want to be in one year from now – what does your business and your life look like?
